Eight Days...

8 Days...

"At once I was in the Spirit"
Revelation 4:2a

1) Sit, ask for Him to open your eyes, and wait.
2) Treat encounters as Holy, journal them for your education.
3) Repeat until you can enter at will.

The other night a group of us met to pray. His presence came. That's one example of being in the Spirit. The goosebumps, the tingles, the weight. That's how our physical bodies react to His presence.
Other times are when you have had a vision, or a prophetic word for someone, or prayed a prayer for someone (publicly or privately) that seems to have more weight on it. That's also being in the Spirit.
It can also be a sense of His peace coming upon us.
So, many of us have experienced what it means to be "in the Spirit".
There are, however, other levels of being in the Spirit. God, in His mercy, does not reveal Himself fully as our physical bodies would not cope. We'd probably vaporize. I had one encounter in 1994 that was so painful I begged for it to stop. It scared me. The next day I asked God what it was, and He said

"I was showing you a little bit more of my glory and power"

It's never happened since, but I've made a decision that if He allows me to experience that level of glory again I won't cry "Stop!" but "MORE!" even if it kills me. It's one of my biggest regrets. What I do know, from that experience, is that there is always more to God, and of God available. I got to encounter God like nothing I've ever experienced. Thirty years on it still guides me. That's why we treat being in the Spirit as Holy. NEVER become familiar with it.
Visits to what we call "heaven", which is just being in the Spirit, are also available. Heaven is the realm where God is. It's not a destination when we die. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8). Well, that can occur now, not only when we die.
Ephesians 2:6 says that WE ARE "seated with Christ in heavenly places", that is a present reality. Our Spirits are above (in heaven) and below (on earth). The Holy Spirit can teach us how to become more sensitive to His realm, to live more by the Spirit. That way we can see from the heavenly places at will. Notice also how it's not a heavenly "place" but "places", it's plural. Fresh reality (realities) are waiting to be revealed to us IF we seek them out.
These things are not usually taught in churches today because a lot of Pastors don't know how to access the Spirit realm. You'll need to go off the beaten track of religion and church business with the Holy Spirit to learn this stuff, sad to say. We need Revival!
The religious spirit convinces many with this lie,

"Well, if God wants me to have those encounters He'll sovereignly give them to me"

What a load of nonsense. Dr Randy Clark says,

"If we only wait for the sovereign acts of God, we will miss so much that is available to those who seek Him"

That statement is true. I believe that God's sovereign acts serve as invitations to live like Jesus did. They show us what's available. Jesus spent time with the Father as a practice and habit. Look how God moved through Him. That's the life we're called to follow.
So, follow the three steps suggested at the beginning. You will see things you have never thought possible.

More Lord
