Six Days...

"The One seated there looked like jasper and carnelian, and a rainbow that gleamed like an emerald encircled the throne"
(Revelation 4:3)
I've added two pics below of jasper and carnelian. It's amazing how they look alike. Have you ever seen Jesus looking like the colour of red gemstones? Me neither! What a sight that must've been. And to add to that, a rainbow that gleams like an emerald. Wow!
Throughout Scripture the writers who saw into the Spirit realm used the word "Like" a lot. They fumbled around in the bag of their knowledge to grab earthly items to compare with what they were seeing in the Spirit. John says "a rainbow" with certainty, but wait a minute, it's gleaming like an emerald. And the "One" on the throne is like a combination of two different gem stones. John still doesn't realize that this is Jesus! I find that amusing.
Now, I DO mean to labour the point that we need a fresh revelation of who Jesus is NOW. Not just in Scripture, but "as it (He) is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10).
LORD REVEAL YOURSELF TO YOUR CHURCH AGAIN, AS YOU ARE,
AND NOT AS WE HAVE CREATED YOU TO BE IN OUR MINDS!!
When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, as He came up out of the water there was a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. John shared the words of John the Baptist,
"I saw the Spirit descending from heaven LIKE a dove and resting on him (Jesus)"
John the Baptist goes on to say,
"The One who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is He who will baptize with the Holy Spirit'" (John 1:32-33)
There was nothing about a "Dove" in the word from God to John the Baptist. And I do not believe for one minute that a dove actually flew down and landed on Jesus' shoulder. John the Baptist, in his best effort, is expressing what is common of people of the Spirit, "Wow, what is that? It looks like a dove, I don't know, but it's resting on Jesus just as God told me".
It wasn't a dove, it was the Holy Spirit. Just like Jesus on the throne isn't a precious gemstone, He is Jesus!
Jesus appeared differently to John in Revelation chapter 1 compared to chapter 4. This is all about that rolling, unfolding revelation of Jesus that we need to seek, desire, and enjoy as we behold Him who sits on the throne.
OK, let me get to a point by sharing one more account from the Gospels.
Jesus, following His resurrection, walked alongside two men on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35), it is one of my most favorite accounts in Scripture. Look what Mark writes in his Gospel concerning this event, it is fascinating,
"Jesus APPEARED IN A DIFFERENT FORM to two of them while they were walking in the country"
(Mark 16:12)
A "different form", what???? He didn't look like the Jesus they knew! Also, these men encountered Jesus, not in the city, but in the wilderness. This speaks today of our need to make time to behold Jesus in the Secret Place, away from the hustle and bustle of life. If that means waking 30 minutes earlier before everyone else, or staying up thirty minutes later, if you're a night owl. As we walk these eternal paths we are more likely to see Jesus in His different forms (whatever that means) as He reveals Himself to us in ways that leave us fumbling for similes!
More Lord!
